How To Paint a Robin - Advanced Level 2

How To Paint a Robin - Advanced Level 2

Most of you will know that this isn't my first time painting a Robin. My first foray in to painting one of our feathered friends was for the subject of a YouTube video on my channel. I always like testing my skill with different subjects and I enjoyed painting Mr Robin first time around very much. Apparently, lots of viewers liked it too! I can't begin to tell you how many people have asked me for a longer, more detailed version so here it is.

I painted this lesson entirely in oil paint (rather than blocking in in Acrylic paints) because there's a fair amount of soft focus and blending is easier when the paint stays wet for longer. There's lots of detail in the feathers and a steady hand is required as is mixing the right paint consistancy.

Even though I've rated this painting intermediate to advanced I'd recommend everyone giving it a try. Challenge yourself. I think you'll be pleased you did.

Good luck!

Michael
